What events are included in the Eilat Gran Fondo 2023?
Gran Fondo Eilat will consist of 2 races: An individual Time Trial and a mass start road race on closed roads. Riders completing the two events will be ranked into a general classification.
Before the Gran-Fondo rider’s briefing, a non-competitive “Mini-Fondo” kid’s events will be held. The “Mini-Fondo” will be focused on skill development in an empowering atmosphere for kids in various ages, rewarding the young cyclist for their participation and not for achievements in this stage.

Who is suitable to participate at the event?
The Gran-Fondo is designed for skilled, trained, and avid cyclists, with its long, demanding course and fast descent into the city of Eilat. Riders will be asked to present a medical certificate. We highly encourage all participants to have fitting insurance.
Registration is open for riders born in the year 2006 or earlier. Members of UCI teams, all riders with UCI points will be racing at the Elite category and will not be eligible for qualifications for the 2024 UCI Aalborg Gran Fondo World Championships.

What are the categories of the ride?
The riders will be divided into 5 years age groups for Men and Women, except for the Juniors, Elite, and 19-34 age group.
riders’ categories are determined by the age of those competing as defined by the difference between the year of the event and the year of birth of the rider.
A category will be open to any age-group with at least one entry.

 
What kind of bike can participate? 

The race is open for riders on all sorts of bikes, except for recumbent, E-bikes. Bikes with Time trial bars will be allowed only for the time trial race. For this race, bikes will not be measured, but those with the intention of competing in the UCI 2024 Gran Fondo World championships, please be advised that all bikes will be checked in the worlds bike to comply with the UCI regulations. All bikes must be well serviced and in good riding order.  

How can I qualify to 2024 Gran-Fondo World championships? 

The 2023 Eilat Gran Fondo is a qualifier event for the 2024 Aalborg (Denmark) UCI Gran Fondo World championships. The first 3 finishers and top 25% of each age category will earn the desired card for the 2024 UCI Gran Fondo World championships. The qualification is valid for the event you obtained it in- ITT, road race or both.

 Are you about the change age group for the 2024 season?Do not worry. Your quota will still be valid. The 25% is rounded to the highest number to determine the exact number of qualified riders per age group (for instance: with 21 starters, 5,25 are eligible for qualification, meaning that the first 6 will be invited for the World Championships). 
All qualifiers will earn qualification medals.

Until when can I register? 

The registration will closed on Nov 24 2023 with no exceptions.
